The Lazarus Syndrome Part 2

The Lazarus Syndrome Part 2 So we looked at Lazarus and wondered why such a beautiful child of God died such a horrific death in his flesh. It got me thinking even more and I asked the Holy Spirit to show me more. I felt there was more to this story.......and He did. This time He linked Lazarus to the beatitudes and pointed out how each part of Lazarus represented the hidden blessings of God. Here it is in: Matthew 5:3-12.

Blessed are the poor in Spirit...for theirs is the Kingdom of God. Lazarus certainly was poor, in fact the bible describes him as being utterly destitute. Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth. He was meek, in fact so humble he never bothered the rich man to help him. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled. Lazarus was hungry for food yes even the word, so hungry that even the crumbs of the Word seemed like a lot. So precious were those Words to Lazarus. The rich man ate and feasted everyday but Lazarus hungered for the Word. Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Lazarus was in Abraham's bosom and Abraham in God. Lazarus was a man of Faith because Abraham represents Faith and Lazarus' faith got him to be with Abraham who is the Father of Faith. It is by our faith that we are able to see God. Whilst the rich man reveled in opulence everyday, Lazarus kept his heart pure. Unseen to the outside unlike the rich man's clothes but seen by God. Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God. Lazarus was a peacemaker but the rich man realised it too late. All the peacekeeping commands that the rich man had ordered Lazarus from hell were not granted. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. The rich man cried for mercy in verse 24 but was denied. Mercy was a tip of water on the finger. A small amount of the Word could make a world of difference. Lazarus had obtained unlimited mercy, imagine all that water, the Word of God in him....but the rich man had none, not even a drop of it. The Word could no longer be obtained in hell. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Lazarus certainly had his fair share of persecutions. He was covered in sores. Apostle Paul said let no man bother me for I bear on my body the marks of Christ. Well so did Lazarus. Thiose sores for God were not in vain. His commitment despite hardship to his flesh earned him heaven. The Rich man had fine linen and splendor. No sores. No heaven. His splendor earned him hell. The grand finale! Blessed are you when men shall revile you, and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad for great is your reward in heaven for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. And so Lazarus found this out to be true. The dogs represent the revilers and persecutors. They licked his wounds by saying all manner of false things and making his life as uncomfortable and as undignified as possible. But whooooo!!! His reward lied in the bosom of Abraham. Think about it... God said to Abraham...I am your exceeding great reward............Its no coincidence that Lazarus ended up in the bosom of Abraham. Think about it.........Lazarus' reward was to be in the bosom of the one whose reward is the Lord. Whoooo!
